The Streets of Mexico City

  The Streets of Mexico City
Heading out into the City, it hits you… this place is stacked. I think I read there is a population of 22 million  people packed into the city. And you can certainly feel it in the centre of the town. A people, small in stature (standing only at the lofty height of 5ft9” yet I could see above most of the residents), I’m guessing due to the fact that Mexico city is at altitude, some 2240 metres about sea level. This felt similar to my time spent in the Andes of Ecuador.

Mexico City has very clean streets, I observed how the locals loved to sweep and mop outside their shops every morning. A sense of pride was apparent from them. As a collective in a generalised sense, I like the community. Big smiles and a welcoming vibes greeted us not only in the centre but wherever we travelled in the city. The warning prior to our trip of a crime ridden city melted away with the reality of the situation.

If you like space and a comfortable distance between you and another person, this isn’t the city for you. My only gripe was if I wanted a fag (cigarette) I had to walk three blocks out the historic area as you’re not allowed to smoke downtown.
